Re:(kr net) needing to see a kr in person ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Elevator Hinge resistance From: "Richard Parker" Date: Mon, 28 Dec 1998 03:43:06 PST X-Message-Number: 1 Make sure you lubricate your hinges and if it still remains then loosen the bolts holding your center hinge on the forward spar. if you've glued it you'll have to pop the glue joint. move it again and see if you have resistance. notice the position and any movement in the center hinge. you may have to shim or remove some material from the spar a couple of thousands at a time. Its physically impossible to get the 3 hinges perfectly aligned. (remember calculus- "approaches zero..") so you have to get it as darn close as possible. (while the wood is moving due to temp and humidity) I aligned mine with a SS steel rod and I still had to adjust the hinges on both the horiz and vertical surfaces. for new builders I recommend slotting or using oversize mounting holes in the center hinge. if you are using 5 hinges you will have to do it on all 3 center hinges. Santa (wife) was good and brought be a GPS receiver for my laptop. Works great with the road software but I'd like to try it "up there". It sounds like a great little engine although a little pricey. They have had some piston problems here lately and are trying to solve this problem so if you are planning on going this route be sure and check on this.
