I think the elevator hinges that came with my partially built kit are to plans. Each fits quite well with little sideways movement. There is no reason an elevator couldn't slop back and forth 1/16 inches; there's a real problem when they bind. Loosen up a bit or change the design so that they're accurate as a pivot, but don't bind with a bit of flexure load. When you're flying, they'll NEVER be straight, like they are when you buuild them; there'll always be bending load, although not much going straight down. Don't do that very long/far. To all you kr builders, i put in oilite bearings in every place where a bolt would pass through a aluminum plate. took some extra work but if slop ever starts just replace the bearings. my hinges all move nice and smoothly.
