Great Plains will apparently have them available in the near future anyhow. Priming the intake before the carby, who knows, ever see a older carburettor with the choke butterfly after the throttle butterfly. My Lycoming had the primer nozzles injecting immediately before the inlet valve in the head itself. Finally a couple on Great Plains rear drive. As I understand, the previous designs have been limited to wood props not so much due to weight alone but to the gyroscopic forces of heavier props acting at right angles and displaced 90 degrees radially. The new design might allow heavier props, move them further forward and help thus with the rear CG concerns. How will the back (I mean front) now be mounted to the firewall. This net is a real credit to you guys in Yankeeland. Lets the engine run on 2 opposed cylinders on the prime until it gets some vacuum going. Only takes a couple seconds. I have used this system with the EFS-2 and the EFS-3A and it works great. Oh ya, don't be stomping away to leave KRNet just because I rapped your knuckles - You can hammer me in private if you like: BSHADR@aol.com As a side note, I recall that a number of years ago, Jim sold RST to other parties who proceeded to run it into the ground over a 5-6 year period of time. Jim "bought" it back. My guess is that he carried paper on the original sale and ended up with the company instead of the $$ they owed him. Anyhow, to his credit, he is running it again in the form of an abbreviated version of the RST he originally sold. Times change and the goals of company owners can change too. I can see why he may not want to support past products. I can also see why a purchaser would want him to do the opposite. It is not a hoax - do NOT open the attachment. I have copied the header text of the messages to show the time span between the time the user sent the e-mail titled "Canopy" and the time that the WORM program sent a copy of itself in an e-mail with the same title (By the way, this is not meant to single out the sender - I am just trying to demonstrate how the program can replicate the information you are typing): < Reply-To: "KR-net users group" To: "KR-net users group" Subject: [kr-net] Canopy Date: Wed, 3 Feb 1999 14:54:27 -0600 Attachment: Happy99.exe>> < Reply-To: "KR-net users group" To: "KR-net users group" Subject: [kr-net] Canopy Date: Wed, 3 Feb 1999 15:01:22 -0600>> Notice that the time span between the messages is only 7 minutes. Trojan Horse programs/viruses work just like in the Greek epic, the Iliad - It's a program inside of a program. You let this thing inside your computer system and when you least expect it all the Trojans come pouring out and catch you when you are vulnerable! BTW: WORM means "W"rite "O"nce "R"ead "M"any - which means the program writes itself only one time to your hard-drive but can be read many times over. Here is a listing from Symantec Corporation re: Happy99.EXE: Happy99.Worm VirusName: Happy99.Worm Aliases: Trojan.Happy99, I-Worm.Happy Likelihood: Common Region Reported: US, Europe Keys: Trojan Horse, Worm Description: This is a worm program, NOT a virus. This program has reportedly been received through email spamming and USENET newsgroup posting. The file is usually named HAPPY99.EXE in the email or article attachment. When being executed, the program also opens a window entitled "Happy New Year 1999 !!" showing a firework display to disguise its other actions. The program copies itself as SKA.EXE and extracts a DLL that it carries as SKA.DLL into WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. It also modifies WSOCK32.DLL in WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and copies the original WSOCK32.DLL into WSOCK32.SKA. WSOCK32.DLL handles internet-connectivity in Windows 95 and 98. The modification to WSOCK32.DLL allows the worm routine to be triggered when a connect or send activity is detected. When such online activity occurs, the modified code loads the worm's SKA.DLL. This SKA.DLL creates a new email or a new article with UUENCODED HAPPY99.EXE inserted into the email or article. It then sends this email or posts this article. If WSOCK32.DLL is in use when the worm tries to modify it (i.e. a user is online), the worm adds a registry entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce=SKA.EXE The registry entry loads the worm the next time Windows start. Removing the worm manually: 1.delete WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SKA.EXE 2.delete WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SKA.DLL 3.replace WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WSOCK32.DLL with WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WSOCK32.SKA 4.delete the downloaded file, usually named HAPPY99.EXE I apologize for the long message but I work as a Systems Analyst and I do feel I have a responsibility as a professional to assist others regarding this type of behaviour. WORM VIRUS WARNING From: "Wayne DeLisle Sr." Date: Wed, 03 Feb 1999 20:24:44 -0500 X-Message-Number: 18 No slam on this one, Randy. You are dead on. I appreciate your quick email, as I had just executed the darn thing. As soon as i saw your email, I shut down my ISDN line so that no data could be sent out. The write up in your referenced web site would seem to indicate that anyone who executed this thing would unknowingly be sending copies via email file attach to anyone that they sent an email to. If that is so, then I would expect to see this thing popping up here on this list from any number of places before everyone gets the word. Note to Bob Sauer, your system is undoubtedly infected. Please take=20 a look at the referenced web site for recovery. One note about the removal directions, I was able to just delete all the offending files except Wsock.dll, which win/95 insisted was an active file. I got around that by shutting down win/95 and booting from a win/95 boot disk. This allowed me to locate and remove the file by using the dos commands del and ren. For anyone running W/95 or 98, if you don't have a boot disk, you should make one. It can save your bacon... Thanks again for the timely warning.
