My local VW dealer has a hopelessly unhelpful parts counter staff. They service 8 brands of automobiles out of this shop and it's a looney bin. Is there any difference at all with the ones that where installed in the mid-engine model Porsche?? Whole thing has only run 10 hours from new. Flew it for the first time yesterday, handled great so I'm really looking forward to long summer evenings and all that. My question is, does any one know what happened to the HAPI company? I think they stopped trading some time ago but I would like to know if there are any sources left that might have spares. 'DF has a Grob sliding canopy and a rounded vertical stab (that's in fin in English English!) so it does look a very "British". The PFA here certifies the KR2 to 950lbs, single person only with a VNE of 155mph. I think all you US people get bigger numbers than this. Great to see so many of you talking to each other. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: [Fwd: new member intro] From: "ek002" Date: Sun, 21 Feb 1999 20:39:25 -0000 X-Message-Number: 7 ----- Original Message ----- From: ek002 To: KR-net users group Sent: Sunday, February 21, 1999 8:35 PM Subject: Re: [kr-net] [Fwd: new member intro] >I've recently become the proud owner of a KR2 over here in the UK, reg # >G-BUDF was completed in '94 with a new (from '89) HAPI Magnum 75 motor which >has loads of nice things like separate heads. hydraulic tappets, alternator, >twin electronic sparks and an Ellison injector carb. I over reacted. Sorry. The engine IS the Moller engine, and it WAS extremely expensive. I am hoping that since it is now 'in production' the price has come down. As soon as I recieve a reply to my querry (prob tomorrow) I will post a short, simple statement as to what they say. :)) -- On Sat, 20 Feb 1999 20:11:53 Mike Mims wrote: >Jim Whiteshield wrote: >> >> If I'm not part of your 'cliche', you don't want to hear it? Woo Hoo! Today I glassed the cowling plug which I really had no desire to do. Could be why its taken me so long to get back at the project, well among other things anyway. Brad stopped by the hanger to lend a hand and I am sure glad he did. We used the glassing technique that Mark Langford talks about on his web site to glass the underside of the cowling. I made paper templates and we rough cut some fiberglass and wet them all out at once on a piece of plastic. This allowed us to carry the wetout cloth over to the plug and apply it without distorting the shape. Once it was affixed to the plug we carefully peeled the plastic off. All we had to do at this point was use our hands (with gloves, of course!) and gently massage the cloth onto the plug. This worked VERY nice with very little mess. I highly recommend this method if you find that you need to glass the bottom of your project. I plan to drive back to the hanger tonight to razor trim the glass and hopefully next weekend I can glass the top. I am sure glad this portion of my project is done! Like I said earlier I really had no desire to do it but it turned out to be a piece of cake. -- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Micheal Mims SP290 (Sky Pig 290) ,..Still Building Cowling..... mailto:mikemims@home.com http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/4136/ Aliso Viejo Ca ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ --- END OF DIGEST --- You are currently subscribed to kr-net as: johnbou@timberline.com To unsubscribe send a blank email to leave-kr-net-17800J@telelists.com
