It is then drilled in a staggered pattern with the hole size dependant on the size of the aluminuim and its thickness. The holes are then countersunk on the side facing outward. The ally is then clamped in place using a medium thickness mix of resin and cotton flox so that the excess squeeses out of the holes. When set, the excess can be sanded level with the surface of the ally. All that is left is a good bond to the wood with the added bonus of a series of flox "rivets" holding it in place for extra strength. Of course a layer of glass can be laid up over this tying the glass to the wood via the bond to the "rivets". Sorry for the long winded message but could not trim it any shorter. I've built the antenna and a intercom two sets of headsets and am now working on a audio panel. For those who like saving money try http://www.rst-engr.com, you built the plane, why not the avionics? Just for kicks this weekend we did a little video of my KR from a friend's Cherokee 235. It isn't great and is only straight and level flight, but it is proof that some KR's really do get finished and fly. Mine is now 2 years old and is showing 182 hours on the hobbs. Go to http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Launchpad/9727/memberspics.htm Then select the second thumbnail picture down which is labeled as a movie. Be forwarned that the file is 2.8 MB, so it might take a while to download.
