But, since this would be my first homebuilt I am little bit skeptical about it. Does anybody have built kr-2 in this configuration ? Does anybody see any problem with this ? Please help me with this. I just purchased a standard KR-2 (retracts, 1834cc VW, single stick, etc) from Canada. The builder was W. Van Spronson (passed away?) who completed and registered the plane in 1986. From what I here, it then sat in a hanger untill 1997 or 1998 when Robin Simms of Pendiction B.C. purchased it, repaired "hanger" rash, flew off the restrictions and received an airwothyness certificate on Dec 3, 1998. Canadian registration was C-GMMI. I have flown it with Robin, took delivery at Hillsboro Oregon, and just completed the FAA registration process (N 2026P). I hope to fly it as my own plane this weekend, weather permitting. I have a lot of questions about the design and its possibilities, but I will hold off untill I get more time in the aircraft. Cruise now is about 110-113 knots but the exterior is very 'dirty' (fuel filler sticks up 2.5 inches, poor wing joint fit and empanage fairing, no streamlining behind the retracted wheels, etc). Information and comments will be appreciated. It also uses a VW powerplant and has similar performance specs. The constrictuion techniques are significantly different.
