Available at Walmart and most hardware stores for about 2.50, it keeps the sandpaper from sliding on your flat sander and turns non-stick disk sandpaper into the expensive stick on type. Use it to attach placards on the panel and other points that have to be marked and as a third hand when you want to stick something on a temporary basis and peel off later. If the peeling becomes difficult, use your heat gun and heat the item just enough so that it peels easily. If you have a one-page shot of the skeleton of the wing, showing spars and ribs, please email it or fax it to 405-325-7695. 2. I had a link to the spar design for the 18% airfoil but have misplaced it. There is a very nice KR-1 on display at the museum. The KR-1 construction began in 1974 by a 14 yr named Brian, his father finished the KR some years later and then donated the plane to the museum after Brian was killed in a news helicopter crash. It really is a nice looking KR. Plus there is alot of great military planes there as well. Sorry for the delay, I was gone all weekend. I was surprised at seeing pretty much the same questions. So let me answer a few of the most popular. 1. I live near Houston, Tx 2. A "Ballpark figure" would be under $7K. And at the cost of just materials alone, your already ahead of the game. Now figure in how long it would take you to get it to where it is now. Then make an offer that you feel is FAIR. If were in the same "Ballpark", you can come inspect it till your hearts content. What do you have to lose ? 3. As far as how complete it is. If you can check out my website, please do. If you can't,(which I still can't figure out). Let me know and we'll work something out. I never liked the idea of one 12 gal header tank because with 2 people as fuel burns off the CG moves dangerously aft. My original plan was to have a 5 gal header tank and two 5 gal wing tanks but that means I have to build 3 tanks........Too complex, too much trouble. Now I'm thinking that maybe a better setup would be a 10 gal header tank and a small supplementary 6 gal tank inside the fuselage (maybe under the seat or behind it) . I am trying to avoid unnecessary complexity while still being able to control the CG with fuel weight. I figure that a 10 gal header tank would be less likely to run dry. I plan to run out 6 gal from the front tank then pump up 6 gal from the rear tanks and run out that 6 gal and still have absolutely no change in CG Anybody have any comments on this kind of setup? Anybody ever tried it??? Mine is 18.5 gal. and my Dad's 22.5 gal.. In both cases, it is probably more fuel than you need if you are using a VW powerplant. With the 18.5 gal1ons I flew to the last KR Gathering in KY from Austin, TX with one stop, 657 miles. I had three gallons left at the refuel site and five gallons when I arrived at Lake Barkley. I personally think that wing tanks are preferable. I'm placing 2 5" dia. irrigation pipes just behind the front spar. Some of you out there will remember that Jim Bede used an irrigation pipe for both the spar and fuel tank in the 'Yankee'. I have worked out some of the details. But I'm still working. And yes, I know of the tank fill that cuts down on the possibility of fires in hard landings, lets not say c.... And I know that Jeff Bryson here in town has a header tank and is flying all over. It's just my personally feeling. Happy building and/or flying.
