I had a few questions about powerplant options. What performance numbers do you get with different engines, and also what engines give the advertised performance of 180 cruise and 200 top? I always read about 135-150 cruise. Do I really need an O-200 to get those numbers or will a 2180 do it? I understand that keeping an aerodynamically clean airframe and a cruise prop help quite a bit, but I'm curious to see what people really get with their powerplants. I'm sure you folks get tired of hearing questions about what engines make KR's go the fastest, but I would appreciate anyone who can take the time to post a few performance numbers with whatever engine/prop installations they have. Thanks a bunch. -Aaron Sand ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: dragonfly canopy From: michael beck Date: Fri, 17 Dec 1999 17:19:53 -0800 (PST) X-Message-Number: 4 will a dragonfly canopy fit ok on a built to plans kr2s? I changed the tag signiture on my mailer. The kr2.htm has been changed to kr2.shtml. Sorry 'bout that. If anyone is interested, I completed the "Wing" page today. I think that is the last one although I am about to add the pictures of the rudder pedals and brake mechanisms to the fusilage page. Other than asking me to "shut up", if anyone has any comments on what else I should put there which could be of benefit to those builders who haven't seen a completed KR, I would like to hear of it. I have gotten as high as 185 mph IAS at 4500' density altitude and 4000 rpm and 40" Hg. My bird has the Rand stock retracts but is only a single seater. I weight 225 lbs and the plane's empty weight is 703 lbs. I use a 52 X 47 Aymar-Demuth prop. Hope this helps Regards Parley (N54PB) parley@anv.net >I am interested in building a KR-2 or KR-2S. I have seen pictures where the engine is located 1" to 2" above the longerons. I would like to raise mine and am wondering what the trim consequences are. Does it cause noticeable pitch changes from idle to full power? Is there some other problem that could happen that I might not be aware of? I planned on using one on my 44" wide cabin.
