I'm taking the job of President of our local EAA chapter this year and looking to step up the activity of our chapter by the power of ten. That, my project, flying the Tripacer, hauling jumpers, a spring wedding, well you get the drift. As the following year's Gathering site is picked at the Gathering Banquet, I suggest we all save our lobbying until a month our so before Lake Barkley. Get your ducks lined up and make your push in September. Keep in mind the time and effort it takes to host an event like this. May the best site win !!! Or am I misinterpreting what I'm reading. Perhaps people would get tired of seeing a group of KR's more than once a year (yeah, right). From what I'm reading in the GP-4 newsletters, many are using Pro Set to build fuel tanks. I think it is either a West Systems or System Three product which apparently does an initial room temperature cure which is to be followed by an elevated temp. (100 degrees) cure which makes it completely impervious to fuel, alcohol, and any other solvent you might find in both 100LL and auto fuel. I think this is what the product was intended for. Anybody know anything about this...good, bad, or otherwise? I lost the name of a fellow here on the list that might have a nose gear for sale. I removing my retractable main gear on my KR2. Anyone interested in a retractable system can contact me. I have the standard 3/4" spring bar (2) two of them and a 1" spring bar 3 sets of legs, brakes ,tires and wheels. I also have a solid aluminum main gear with wheels and tires that was made for a KR1-1/2 and will also fit a KR2. I would personally attend a fly in at Stillwater ( KR won't be ready, but I can get there) but like Mike M. says, it needs to be hosted before it can happen. -- Dave McKelvey Grapevine TX 817-329-0425 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Ponca City fly in. I intend to create a topographic surface of my KR-2...will use in evaluating symmetry of final configuration and as a tool to make weight and balance adjustments. I am proficient with Microstation and InRoads (MDL Application). I intend to create a topograhic surface of my KR-2 using InRoads, a TOPCON and data collector. Can anyone provide a topo surface of their KR-2(S)? A 3D design file in AutoCAD (can import R14 and older)? I am not ready to build the topo surface on my aircraft and would like to develop the procedure using someone elses design data. The topo surface can be an ascii coordinate file. I will post my results on the KR-net when finished. Jer ===== Jerry L. Conners, PE Civil Engineer __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Been there, done that. No excuses > for Californians to feel 'left out'. Many have come from Alaska, > BC, and last year Scotland! Well I have to disagree with one of your cents. I do NOT want to fly an airliner to the gathering. This is the very reason I am building an airplane. On the other hand I don't want to burn up one of my weeks of vacation, flying to and from the gathering in my airplane. Gatherings just are not worth the vacation time that's required when they are 3000 miles away. In all honesty I can wait until its closer because missing them is really no big deal, at least it hasn't been for the last 3 years. -- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Micheal Mims Sanding and Filling AGAIN! :o( http://www.fortunecity.com/marina/anchor/270/ mirror @ http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/4136/ http://members.home.com/mikemims/ Aliso Viejo CA ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: canopy latching From: "Christopher Stewart" Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2000 22:30:20 X-Message-Number: 14 how is everyone latching their canopy, i saw where someone said that it should be able to be opened from the outside too, how are you guys doing this?,and what setups? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: My area From: Joseph Cygan Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2000 23:02:09 -0800 X-Message-Number: 15 Hello, I am looking for fellow KR builders in my area. None of the eXperimental aircraft in the immediate area of my hanger can be opened from the outside once latched. We are not building military jet aircraft here. Why does someone outside the aircraft need to be able to jettison the canopy? KISS!! What's wrong with the latches that RR sells? If you go to this site: http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/barkley99/99092576.jpg you can see the simple latches that RR sells. If they work on Troy's airplane at 180 mph they are good enough in my book. The long slotted piece of aluminum is a safety catch (borrowed from the Dragonfly design) I think and the latch is just forward of that (there are two, one fwd and one aft). -- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Micheal Mims Sanding and Filling AGAIN! :o( http://www.fortunecity.com/marina/anchor/270/ mirror @ http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/4136/ http://members.home.com/mikemims/ Aliso Viejo CA ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ --- END OF DIGEST --- You are currently subscribed to kr-net as: johnbou@ipinc.net To unsubscribe send a blank email to leave-kr-net-110995W@telelists.com
