If anyone has AutoCAD, Microstation or any CAD files that can be converted to AutoCad DGN or DXF file format, please email these files to me. I will use the files to develop a procedure to compare design and as-constructed surfaces, and will share info with everyone. I am building a KR-2 which was partially completed (boat stage) by another builder...don't have a 3D surface to work with yet. Jer ===== Jerry L. The KR plans are copyrighted and if you go rendering 3D cad files of how it is constructed and sharing them on the web you will find yourself in a lawsuit. Trust me on this one. --- Jerry Conners wrote: > I will use the files to develop a procedure to > compare design and as-constructed surfaces, and will share info with everyone. > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? In our area it is NOT required nor is it stated in regs. -- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Micheal Mims Sanding and Filling AGAIN! :o( http://www.fortunecity.com/marina/anchor/270/ mirror @ http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/4136/ http://members.home.com/mikemims/ Aliso Viejo CA ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Cold Engine From: GARYKR2@cs.com Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 22:06:46 EST X-Message-Number: 6 This is directed towards the guys up in Canada. How do you keep the temps up in your engines during the winter? The temp was 15 deg at the airport today. The highest oil temp I got was 150, during climb, then slowly down to 135. That's when I landed. It just won't stay warm. The copyright only extend to the original drawings not anything past that. He can't make copies of them and sell them, though he could if he wanted change a few things on the set and be legal If he wanted to redraw them and sell plans to his "RK" design then its still ok. It may not be morally right but legally so. As far as designing or lofting a 3D model then he's totally free of any legal obligations. Kr doesn't market or sell a 3d model and would have to prove that his model adversly affected thier sales before any damages would be awarded. If its too much remove some of the tape if its not enough put on a larger piece. This is also handy for when the outside temps change quickly. There is no unbolting of the cold weather kit just rip the tape off when it gets warm or add more if it gets cold. On a Continental IO-520 you need to block off about 1/3 of the cooler when the temps get down to -20f. Try it, it really works! -- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Micheal Mims Sanding and Filling AGAIN! :o( http://www.fortunecity.com/marina/anchor/270/ mirror @ http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/4136/ http://members.home.com/mikemims/ Aliso Viejo CA ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Terra Transponder & Rand Safety From: "Cliff Cast" Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 14:32:43 -0800 X-Message-Number: 10 Does anyone have a working or yellow tagged Terra Transponder? Also, I have looked at NTSB reports and such for the Rand. I have concluded that the serious crashes were due to serious pilot errors or unknown. I could not find any obvious structural failure or anything like that. I feel the plane is well designed and safe. However, I read that the designer died in a Rand. I can not imagine him making an obvious serious pilot error in his own design? What is the general consensus on the safety of the Rand. And does anyone have information specific to control surface or structural failures? Thanks, Cliff Cast ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Cold Engine From: "w.g. kirkland" Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2000 00:25:27 -0500 X-Message-Number: 11 Gary; It's -15F out right now so your question is kind of appropriate. First, you don't start without preheating the engine. The oil and the block should be close to 32F before starting. My 150 has a special winter nose cowl that greatly reduces the airflow over the engine. I put it on any time the temp drops below 35. Don't let the rpm get below 1500 on final. The shock cooling can easily crack a cylinder head if you throttle back suddenly. Been there done that. On an 0200 it's about $1000 a crack. (pun intended) Wear long underwear and watch out for frozen relief tubes. W.G.
