The KR is the same as any other aircraft just that it happens more rapidly. Spun mine many times, it goes back to the adage fly the airplane. Same do and don'ts apply as any other aircraft, like any other make sure you have plenty of altitude. I did mine at 10,000' - 6,500' above ground until I got comfortable with it, might scare one a bit the first time but keep at it until your at ease, nothing to it. -- Adrian VE6AFY Calgary, Alberta Mailto:cartera@cuug.ab.ca http://www.cuug.ab.ca/~cartera ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 Jun 2000 13:23:58 -0600 To: AviationMech@aol.com From: cartera CC: jconners_98@yahoo.com, krnet@mailinglists.org Subject: Re: KR> Spin Recovery with KR-2 Message-ID: <3941444E.3771A496@cuug.ab.ca> AviationMech@aol.com wrote: > > Spins are not an approved maneuver in the KR 2 > > Orma > aviationmech@aol.com > http://members.aol.com/aviationmech > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: krnet-unsubscribe@mailinglists.org > For additional commands, e-mail: krnet-help@mailinglists.org OhhhHHH! Our grass strip is only 1000 feet long with no obstacles at one end. I was wondering, having flown a KR-2, if you could tell me if the specs of 350 feet take off are an accurate specification? I have landed and taken off a 1960 Cessna 172 out of our strip (A little tight). Also the runway slopes up about 1.75 degrees on landing (witch helps to slow down) and ofcoarse the opposite affect on take off (helps gain speed a little quicker). During construction I had plan on installing the proper "soft field" landing gear (tires, etc.). If you could give me some first hand advice on the KR-2 it would be greatly appreciated. Also if you know of a partially completed unit I would be interested in looking at it. This is the five point design for the VW 1835 or 2180 engine. This mount will match up to the Diehl accessory case and can be used on either the tri-gear or tail dragger KR2 or 2S and can be adapted to other experimentals. This mount has never had an engine attached to it. It is like new and has no scratches, only mounted to my firewall. Great Plains sells this mount for $225.00 and shipping charges will average $15.00 on UPS. I am selling only because I changed my engine choice to the Corvair 110HP and no longer need this mount. I will accept any reasonable offer for this engine mount. I will also pay all shipping for this mount anywhere in the continental United States via UPS. Rich, That check I promised you is going in the mail. Remember to keep this quiet. I just updated the kmarkl.html page, but only to reflect that I've now got 2600 hours into it, rather than 1900. I haven't been getting much done on it lately, since they've got me doing 60 and 70 hour weeks again. At least they pay me overtime, so I shouldn't be whining I guess, but I sure wish management would hire a little help! I guess it's kinda hard to find folks that can perform magic on a daily basis though. But what I HAVE been doing when I get time is finishing the second (pilot's) wing's ailerons and flaps. Since it looks just like the passenger's wing, I haven't felt the urge to update my web page. My grand plan is to finish up the body work and paint the whole plane before Fall, leaving nothing but finishing wiring the panel and firewall forward for a Winter project. I plan to document the engine rebuilding process in my typical excruciating detail, explaining general rebuilding procedures, as well as info peculiar to the Corvair. That probably won't be for a few months though, as I want to get the finishing done while the weather's warm. Next spring I'll build a cowling and paint it separately, and hope to be flying in the summer. It might be noted though that I said something similar about a year ago, and a year before that, and...
