They inspected my KR-2S with a fine tooth comb and also inspected my Corvair engine. They gave me many useful tips, suggestions and ideas. It is gentlemen such as this that make building an airplane worthwhile. Not only does it help with the building process, it developes new friendships. Thanks Mark and Dean!!! I need a good answer for this one. As I climb, the manifold pressure increases about 1in for every 2500ft of altitude gained. It is supposed to go down, not up (1in down for each 1000ft up is normal). I don't have an answer as of yet for this one. Carb intake air is taken from top side of engine. I know I get some ram effect, but this doesn't add up. Let's get some ideas flying, I'd like to get this figured out. Since it came from your factory, get a source contact, then call their engineering department and give them your finished dimensions of the gear leg along with the expected loads. They should be able to tell you what load will cause it to yield, and under expected loads, how much it can be expected to deflect. Of course, don't tell them what it's intended purpose is, or they will probably automatically tell you it won't work. This is where I'd start. After investing the money and time in building a KR, I doubt I'd be willing to let it slide down the runway at 70 mph on it's belly due to folded up gear legs. I'd probably go for a known quantity if the phenolic appears to be somewhat marginal for the intended application.
