I've seen examples powered by 1800cc VW's, subarus, corvairs, and one turbine powered aircraft. I'm curious as to what the airframe can take in terms of horsepower, top speed, g-loadings, etc. Obviously, even though a 400hp turbine could probably be fitted and the weight and balance problem solved, it probably would be a bad idea because of the resultant stresses. What does RR have to say about this? bow about some of the aero engineers on this list? Thanks! I wasn't entirely sure if I had checked that, so I tried it tonight. The radio noise level could only be described as "horrendous". This one is a "Falcon Guage" made in China. Anybody else have a noisy one, or is everybody else's quiet (radio interference wise)? Looks like I screwed up trying to save a few bucks on the import... Depending on weather, it looks like Steve Bennett and Marti Roberts will be arriving on Thursday as well. I have heard that Jean and Calvin are thinking about coming over on Friday. Hope for good weather now and everyone's safe flight down and back. I bought my KR as a project from someone else that had used epoxy to install wing skins instead of vinylester. When I cut out the ailerons, the skins came apart. There was a period of approximately six years from time of building wings to time of cutting out ailerons. Dan Diehl and everyone I've told the story have said I was lucky I waited so long to finish the wings. Otherwise, I might have found out about the problem at an inappropriate time if I had finished the KR earlier and flown it. Dan said he heard someone else had made a similar mistake and I would be interested if it happened to anyone else. I would certainly like to find out how the problem was resolved. The epoxy should remain on the wood spars but leave the skins fairly clean. You should be able to sand the epoxy off of the spars to get clean wood. It's going to be a job but I think saving the skins is a very doable thing.
