On page 107 of my KR2 plans. A wiring diagram shows the tachometer wired to a positive wire, a negative wire, and the magneto switch. I am wondering if this is correct? Or, am I reading this wrong? Also, I have noticed that on all the tachometers I have seen in the auto parts store there is a note on the package that reads........"For all distributor and distributorless ignition systems {not magnetos} on the package." Since the installation instructions said not for planes or boats. I thought it might be a liability thing and bought the tachometer anyway. Is anybody using an electric tachometer with a magneto that can shed light on this subject?........Thanks! I have been looking for a year or so for a nice inexpensive aircraft to build and I have decided on the KR2. I am now wondering about engine and gear choices. I am thinking of a VW 2180 from Great plains and conventional retractable gear, for maximum performance. I am interested in soft field durability and range. I plan to fly to Panama, Belize area from the United States. I would appreciate any opinions, I know there are a lot out there. Anyone that's been in the experimental world for any time knows you will probably have a forced landing in a field some where. I have had more than one (4 if I'm not mistaken) and I left the gear up on all soft field landings and sustained only little damage. As for speed. I have designed a new retract design that is simply a retro fit. And if the gear is fared in as I'm doing. You should be able to gain some speed. If you have any questions, 'e' me direct. I got a geek friend of mine to check it out and he had the same problem accessing. Ultimately I was able to access it by right clicking and "saving as". I still had to keep trying a few times on some of the files before I got access to them. Sometimes it wanted to save it as a ".htm". Do not save it like that since it's just a link. Keep trying until you get ".pdf" which is the Adobe Acrobat document. Then save it to your H.D. and ultimately read it or print it. I printed all of them since I know I will want to refer to some of the valuable info later on during the construction. Happy building, FLORIN L. The fortunecity site used to work just fine then I think they figured out that the webmaster of the page was linking files from other sites and shut things down. Just a suspition on the furtune city site though. I guess I should have saved everything to my hard drive when things were working. I also have been told again and again to read the archives first so I don't ask questions that already have answers. Well, I'm trying to be a good KRNetter, I am I am.
