Here's an idea I've had for an AOA for a while, one = that I will make a working model for for my KR-2S. I plan on using a suitable, simple rheostat switch, a 'turning' type = such as you would find on the front a radio or stereo. This would be = mounted with the shaft horizontal and inside of an airfoil shape. This = airfoil shape would be mounted on a 'stick' which would stick out from = the leading edge and of course be removable. On the panel would be a suitable, simple volume level indicator again = such as you would find on a stereo. Pass a current through the = rheostat, move the vane, and mark the volume level indicator = accordingly. What are everyones thoughts on this? I actually prefer the idea of = using a pressure differential gauge idea with just one small tube = mounted in the appropriate spot on the leading edge. The only question = is, where would the tube mount, and how would it be made adjustable? =20 mailto:pjohnson@voyageur.ca ------=_NextPart_000_0064_01C08EEF.F519A380-- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2001 23:18:03 EST To: krnet@mailinglists.org From: JEHayward@aol.com Subject: Re: KR> Another Cheap AOA Message-ID: In a message dated 2/4/01 8:36:42 PM Mountain Standard Time, pjohnson@voyageur.ca writes: << On the panel would be a suitable, simple volume level indicator again such as you would find on a stereo. If carried to extremes you could exceed the ability of the tail to keep the nose up. With power off the centre of drag will be raised and cause the nose to come up more which is not what you want because you prefer the aircraft to assume a nice glide angle. Carried to exremes the power fails, the nose comes up and the aircraft stalls. When alls said and done 2" probably won't be a disaster but the when you don't know what you are doing (thats me) stick as close to the plans as possible. Haven't built my seats yet but I prefer sitting up straight. Have a look at the seats in the early (straight tail) cessna 150's. They have an easy way to make your seat back adjustable for and aft as well as vertically.
