Esch ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ John and netters, I just checked some KR cloth that I got from Wicks last week. It is 50 inches wide and goes for $5.83 per yard. 4 yards would be 48 square feet for $23.28. The e-bay bid is already $25 and he will sell it to you for $35 right now. I'd guess so!!!! You do the math. And from Wicks you know what you are getting and the shipping is going to be about the same. The best way to order plans is via old slow mail. This is the first I have heard that the Rand site is down. Also, you whould join the kr-net email list.... I don't run the email list any longer, it is run by Mark Langford. I think if you send an email to krnet-subscribe@mailinglists.org it will set you up. To email to the list krnet@mailinglists.org after you are a member, and if it doesn't work krnet-help@mailinglists.org or help@mailinglists.org I haven't verified any of this, if it doesn't work send me a line at rossy65@home.com and I will try to do better. -- Regards Ross http://www.teleport.com/~rossy/N541RY.htm http://www.geocities.com/...I forgot sorry. kfc wrote: > hi my name is Kevin Callow i live in Melbourne Australia & i have been trying to contact rand robinson to buy plans for kr2s but my server says cannot be reached i have tried to contact pilot@beegroup.com without success. > If you can give me another adress to contact them or if any one wants to sell me a set of plans for kr2s i will be forever in your favour. hope to hear from you soon, also is anyone > currently building in Melbourne that I can contact > Greatfully yours Kevin Callow > 171 Hilton street > Glenroy > Melbourne > Australia 3046 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2001 11:18:33 -0600 To: kfc From: Mark Jones CC: krnet@mailinglists.org Subject: Re: KR> kr2s plans Message-ID: <3BDC3DE9.1A60B5BA@execpc.com> Hello Kevin, The plans for The KR-2S can only be bought via mail. Rand Robinson does not have e-mail nor do they accept credit cards. The e-mail address pilot@beegroup you are trying to contact is the server host for the Rand-Robinson web site and has nothing to do with the KR business except hosting the web site. Jeanette Rand can only be contacted by phone, fax or mail. All of this information is on the web site at: http://www.fly-kr.com/ Hope this helps. Message-ID: <20011028233318.6069.qmail@web13907.mail.yahoo.com> Hi Netters... I'm gonna be the first to go out on a limb and PREDICT that Mark Langford's KR2-plus will be at the Gathering next year, regardless of whether the Gathering is in Iowa, Idaho, Iola (KS), or Iwo Jima. 'Course, you all know Mark's an engineer, he may decide that he wants a plane with one wing, two cockpits, and three vertical stabilizers. In that case, all bets are off. It's truly amazin' what 3000+ hours of labor will do for an airplane. As I told Mark (I think), when it does show up...it may not be the prettiest plane...it may not be the fastest plane...but it will be the by-God best- thought-out plane. Ya build once, ya fly forever. At least that's the plan... Chuck PS...Iowa? That is in the U.S., right? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Boy, you are WAAAAAY out there this time! I'll never make it if I keep finding things to do like what I've spent the weekend doing, which is cleaning up and organizing my basement. I'd finally had enough of not being able to find anything, and not having any benchtop space to do anything, despite actually having 32 feet of benchtop space. But THAT space is already taken with everything that I keep looking for and can't find! I'm doing stuff like putting all the nuts and bolts in order, arranging the nails from smallest to largest, putting all the airplane building stuff on one wall, VW stuff on another, Corvair on another, building more shelves, sorting through the aircraft plywood and spruce piles and throwing away the microscopic pieces that I've been saving for years and have YET to find a use for, trashing little scraps of foam (I can't think of but one more thing I'll need foam for, and that's the underbelly behind the cowling, etc, etc. I've finnaly got the attitude that I haven't touched it in the 13 years I've lived in this house, it's OUTTA here! And then there are the flying squirrels that have taken up residence in the attic. I'd just let them slide were it not for the fact that they play all night directly over my head, gnawing through the cedar that makes up the ceiling of our bedroom. Scaffolding went up yesterday for that "little" job of removing the eave and wall boards and installing screen wire and hardware cloth to keep them and their buddies the bees out! And then there's my job, where I just started working on a project that has to be complete and in place (at Times Square, New Year's Eve), and it was behind before I even started it! Sorry, I just had to ventilate a little. The good news is that I'll have a fine-tuned, ready-to-go airplane factory here shortly, and will hopefully be able to make some real progress. We'll see. I did manage to spray the cowling with a final coat of featherfil earlier this week, which after a little sanding will be ready for a coat of paint, and then I can pull molds off of it and make my carbon fiber cowling and get this show on the road.. See http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/01102402.jpg , or http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/cowling.html if you're a glutton for punishment. And I did my wingtips too. They're two layers of carbon fiber, and sort of Hoerner-ish. I have an early picture of the bottom at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/01102367.jpg . Let the record show that these tips are PER RR PLANS!!!! I feel sure I'll cut them off later and play around with different versions, but for right now I'm tired of making decisions, I just want to go fly some! Kinda like me and my wife, after spending 14 months building our house (ourselves), we just painted all the rooms white 'cause we didn't have any more decisions left in us. And you know, they're all still white... Message-ID: <000801c1606e$59167e80$c72c5d0c@scana.com> Netters: The passenger seat came out to 2# 13oz, spans the spars and you can stand in it with virtually no bending. The pilot side is well on the way with the top of it laid up conforming to the spars and cured out overnight. I decided to put a small lip on this seat to let it hang over the far side of each spar. I am not sure it needs it, but if it works, I could remove all the mounting hardware on each spar and save a little of that weight. Next, on to the seat backs. This cool weather doesn't help much. I had to run the Reddy heater all day yesterday to get it cured out enough to remove it from the plane and bring it inside to keep it warm overnight. I am thinking that I am going to clean out the garage and use it as a curing oven for all parts that must remain attached to the plane. It is insulated and will be easier to keep hot for 12 or more hours of curing. When the seats are done, it is on full time to the canopy. I can't wait. I am really pumped for this. Daniel R.
