When I bought my project from a friend (?), there was a HAPI cowling that was bought from Wicks. Since then, I have bought a Revmaster engine. Do you think it would be possible to rework the HAPI cowling for the Revmaster ? The engine I got with the project was a VW with a cast crank, plus cylinders were bad. I tossed the whole engine. The Revmaster came from a Q2 so I'm not sure how it was mounted on that since the engine is still in crate. We have a Revmaster cowling but a GPASC 2180 engine. The nose on the Revmaster cowling is too long for our engine. We are not looking forward to rebuilding the cowling and it would be perfect for you... Does anyone on the net know if the HAPI cowling is a better fit for the GPASC engine...? If so, we could swap and save a lot of work.... Steve/Linda Bennett are you listening in....?? Jerry Mahurin Lugoff, SC On Wed, 26 Dec 2001 23:49:50 -0500 "Philip J. First thing is if you want to build a plane so you can go flying then you're barking up the wrong tree. Soooo ya may wanna keep your plane and build too. Building a plane is a long drawn out process of learning and building, you build a little stop re-think and sometimes tear it back off and start again with what you have learned by the first attempt. So I guess ya might say building is a lesson in patience as well. Good luck with your decision. There are advantages and disadvantages to gullwing, hinged to the left, and hinged from the from the front, and I don't want to even consider opening THAT can of worms. But if you're going to hinge the canopy at the front, I think the way to do that is how John Martindale ( http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/jmartindale/ ) did his, with the hinge points at the extreme outer edges. His canopy rails extend all the way to the pivot points. This setup is the strongest, stiffest, lightest, most efficient and elegant way to do this. I arrived at this same setup, shortly AFTER I finished what I have now, but I wasn't ABOUT to build TWO canopy frames! Maybe next time. For those who think I had too much content on my N56ML web page at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/, you'll be happy to know that I rectified the situation. I took all of the junk from those three years of "project updates" and moved them to their appropriate homes, and then deleted it! So what's left should load easily now. Maybe I can manage to get my fiberfrax and stainless firewall mounted this weekend, and maybe even get my Corvair engine back together. Y'all have a good one... From what little I played with it, I can tell it does math better than I can. It was designed for Windows 3.1, but I ran it on Windows 98 just fine. I still have the original box and books that came with it. The first person in the US who will pay for the shipping can have it. I'm guessing the shipping will run between 5 and 10 dollars will cover it. Email me if you have questions or if you want it. However if you are going to purchase plans and build from scratch, by all means build the KR-2S. It has more head room for tall guys like you.
