Message-ID: <005401c19bcd$678d50c0$7cd9243f@cmidkiff> On this same subject of plyfoam, Jeannette Rand in her pre-molded parts for the KR2S uses what looks like quarter inch hexel sandwiched between fiberglass. The roll over protection piece which you bond to the rear of the canopy frame and another which you bond to the front of the pre-molded turtledeck are also made this way. EAA chapter 84 were at my place today from 10:00 till 12:00 for a monthly project visit to kick the tires on my KR-2 project and I asked a couple of the Boeing guys about this Hexel material and they said it was used a lot in the interior of commercial aircraft and once in a while you can find it at the Boeing surplus store. I need to find a couple sheets to make up the missing ribs for the wing skins. The fellow who makes the skins for Jeanette wants several hundred dollars to provide them for me. Seems a little steep. Having the chapter visit was very motivating also. It will pass in a few hours. You can cover up so you don't get so much on you. What ever you do wear a mask so you don't inhale the stuff. A lot of what you call redundancy and stupid questions can be avoided by visiting the KR archives. There is a wealth of information for those just starting out in the KR building business. You'll learn a whole bunch, and It covers most of the basics. It'll "get you up to speed". If you can't find it in the archives, or need a clarification, definitely ask the question.
