Any thoughts on either? I have had a Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIG welder since they first came out (about four or five years ago). The most important feature about a TIG welder besides the obvious TIG torch, is the foot control. It enables you to vary the amperage from zero to the set level for the job. I don't see how anyone could TIG weld without the foot control. It is what gives you the fineness to run the arc at the level required without burning holes through the thin stuff. My advice Darren is that you should pop for the TIG unit if that is the kind of welding you want to do. In reality, you should consider hiring out your TIG work to a professional. Unless you keep in practice, you will find that your technique is difficult to maintain. For me welding any steel is ok but the Aluminum welding is often a religious experience (holy). I've been working on my KR for 20 years so I know what I'm talking about when I say hire a professional. You don't need to do everything to finish a KR, you just need to get everything done! I've had a lot of fun learning welding, machining, etching my own circuit boards for an autopilot and many other interesting things. But eventually, you have to decide to build the KR. If you want to play Darren, run right out and buy a Lincoln Square Wave 175. It's a great TIG welder. If on the other hand you want to fly your KR some day, run right down to the local welding shop and get the job done by a professional, it will be cheaper and quicker in the long run. While looking for fiberglass sources I noticed that John R Sweet, http://www.johnrsweet.com/Polyester.html sells 5 oz. plain weave dynel. The price varies depending on quantity from one to 1000 yards but is four dollars per yard for a small roll. I have no conection and haven't ordered anything from them, yet... Prices look pretty good so I will give them a try and report on their response. Brad ------------------------------ End of krnet Digest ***********************************
