If you can't fit in it now, as Starrs says, you got some modification to do. I am 6'1/2", 32-33" inseam and 215 lbs. I get in mine. ear phones (over ball cap) just barely clears canopy top. I sit on the floor, however, which is a solid plywood piece just above the control cables where they go under the seat. I cannot use a seat cushion. I also have to remove the seatback cushion to put me as far back as the seat back allows Seat arrangements are built differently, usually, by various builders. Depends upon how this one is built. At 6' 3", better heed Bill Starrs advice. I have wondered about......depending upon which style canopy is used.....just gluing on a bubble large enough to provide the necessary head clearance and go. Might not look as neat, but......you are probably just looking for something to fly and not winning a design contest....and at the least trouble. Will try to send you a pic of mine direct to you. If you have KR Newsletter, Issue 262 dated May 1999, you will find a a write up about mine...."Helpful Flying and Landing Techniques". It is a stock (what ever that means) KR2, 1835 HAPI VW, retracts with stout pin locks (not the natorious latches). Basic VFR instruments, no gyros, panal bracketed NAVCOM, 9 gallon header tank, premolded turtle, canopy, and cowling. Clean interior, decent exterior. The motor just had a head job with new valves and guides. I don't hold the construction certificate so it has been condition inspected by A&Es. I will pay for inspection if the price is resonable (unfortunitly our FBO closed about a year ago and hasn't been replaced). Last sign off was done in Hillsboro Oregon. I payed well over $6,000 initial price and improvements for import/ reregistration. The plane is better now than then. I will consider less but lets be resonable. This is a flying aircraft. ORL is very conveniently located just east of downtown Orlando and is a very easy GA airport to get into and out of. He agreed to offer the following discounts: 1. Single night tie down fee for up to a week's stay 2. Fuel discount of $0.25/gallon Showalter also has great rates with some decent motels in the area. In order to get the discounts, you must tell them that you are there for the "Sun N Fun Package Deal." It's kind of like when ATC asks you "What's the magic word?" If you have any further questions about the rates and savings involved, feel free to inquire at the following: Kim Showalter, FBO Manager, 407-894-7331, kim@showalter.com www.showalter.com Kim and Bob are mom and pop business people who know how to run a great FBO. There is a Showalter on the premises almost all of the time, making sure that things get done expediently and properly. Check out www.airnav.com to see what other people have to say about them. Here is your chance to stay in Orlando for several days at a good discount. Blue Skies, Larry A. I'd be glad to get together with you any time and let you look at the stuff I've accumulated so far. My first suggestion is to find an inexpensive ground school and attend it. I don't know of one here, but start at the local Community College level. The flight schools will provide ground school as you take lessons, but it is much more expensive that way. I did both, I know. Ground school will get you introduced to a lot of the aspects of flying that are not as romantic and exciting as what most of us expect and help you get a more realistic idea of what it is all about. Besides, you need it for your license. Then, start taking lessons. It doesn't take long to solo and after that, you are flying on your own. As my wife said "What if you build that plane and find out you don't like flying?" I thought she was crazy, but I can't tell you how many times I've been bouncing all over the sky, wanting to puke, praying I can line that thing up with the runway long enough to get it on the ground and asking myself "What the hell do I pay so much money for this kind of abuse anyway?" Even if you own your own plane it won't be less expensive or more convenient than commercial flying. It is strictly for fun and a LOT of fun things are less expensive. Then, I'd advise you to join the EAA and your local Chapter (35). Whatever you decide, you won't meet a better bunch than these folks anywhere. As some of you know, I have been building an RV6A for the last year or so. I have completed the tail, wings, and fuselage, and am at the point where I need to order the finish kit and buy an engine. Being the poor working class slob that I am, I will need to sell one of my toys to raise the money. After being on KRNet for 6 years, I am giving you guys first crack at my KR2. I would really like to see it go to a good home. It hurts me to have to sell it, but those who know me know I am more of a builder than flyer, and look forward to the hours of enjoyment that building and flying the RV will give me. So, here it is: Finished at the end of 1997. Won best Auto engine homebuilt at Sun and Fun 1998. Won best KR and Peoples Choice at Lake Barkley 1999. (The only Gathering it has been to). There are many people on KRNet who have logged stick time in this plane- Tom Anderson, Chris Gardiner, Dana Overall, Rich McCall, and Bill Starrs, among others. Feel free to contact any of them, or look at the May 1999 issue of Sport Aviation for pictures. Plane is located in Gainesville, FL. (GNV) I am asking $18,000 and will give a fresh annual.
