Static rpm increase of 100 rpm could mean several things: Reduced prop efficiency (not good) or Reduced parasitic drag (good) or a combination of both? Which is it?? What should have been measured is static thrust versus fuel flow. That will tell whether efficiency has improved and you get better value for your fuel dollar. Where the problem comes from is the engine, i want to put a VW engine in her, for reliability but what i want is a 2180 to 2500CC. but i did not realize the price of material has gone up as high as it has for building molds. fiberglass has gone sky high, anyway my problem the question is does anyone have the specks on building the VW 2180 CC or even higher this is my one problem if so could you e-mail me at Bbillyja@aol.com --part1_64.251202b6.2ab23a13_boundary-- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Sep 2002 19:04:33 GMT To: krnet@mailinglists.org From: george@hotorange.co.za Subject: South African Netters... Give my best to your family. = jim wogaman jwog1@copper.net=20 cleo :-) ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Colin Hales=20 To: jwog1@copper.net=20 Sent: Friday, September 13, 2002 6:26 AM Subject: KR2 replies. Dear Jim, The Jabiru weighs in at 136 pounds. We have a 52 inch prop on there = but it is far too fine, but we needed a climbing prop to pull us out of = the short fields we landed in on our journey, so we run a cruise of 3200 = rpm and burn 20 litres an hour at 110 knots instead of the normal 2800 = rpm and down at 16 litres an hour. If we ever get around to fitting a = cruise prop on I'm sure we could go some what quiker, but that is for = another day. We are limited to 900lbs max weight in the UK, so only = carry about 30lbs of luggage, but we have a forward hold behind the = engine as the engine is far forward as it weighs so little to keep the = Cof G right. The brakes are the Great Plains disc set. Not great, pretty = rough and needed quite some mods to get to fit my axles, but they work = just about right. Not to powerfull to tip it up, but we sure have worked = them hard at times when necessary. Jim the plane is now some 10,000 miles from home and looks a bit = different, look again at our site in about 2 weeks and we will have some = more pics of the plane and our journey posted. Regards, Colin and Nadine. >From: "jim wogaman"=20 >To:=20 >Subject: Form posted from Microsoft Internet Explorer.=20 >Date: Tue, 10 Sep 2002 20:33:53 -0400=20 >=20 >textfield=3Djim wogaman=20 >textfield2=3Dusa=20 >textfield3=3Djwog1@copper.net=20 >select=3DMore information=20 >textfield4=3Dwhat's the weight of the jibaru engine?
