Well, for one, Tom Crawford's award-winning KR2 is. His plane won "best auto engine installation" or something like that at Oshkosh two or 3 years ago and was written up in Sport Aviation. There are photos on the website at http://www.krnet.org under 'completed KRs', and I think there are more closeups of the firewall forward on one of Mark Langford's KR Gathering travelogues (probably the one from Lake Barkley). >Is that engine able to run auto gas? Hmmm... I think Tom is still on this list, let's see if he catches this thread. I don't recall if he was flying it on autogas or 100LL, but there is information and guidance on this from Steve Bennett at Great Plains Aircraft Supply. Their website is at http://www.greatplainsas.com >What kind of speed do you get with that motor? Per the captions on the >page linked to Tom Crawford's "completed KR", cruise at 158 MPH. I've sized them down to 1280x1024 so they make a dandy background for your PC's desktop. To make it "wallpaper", save the file (right click and choose "save"), then right click on your current background, pick "properties", and you'll arrive at the background chooser. "Browse" to wherever you saved it and pick that file. The world needs more KRs flying, even if it's just on computer screens. Jim Faughn's is at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/jim_wallpaper.jpg , and Jeff Scott's is at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/jeff_wallpaper.jpg . As a bonus, visit http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/redoak2002/02092349m.jpg to see an image of a G-meter in a 780 pound empty KR2 that regularly carries passengers during medium G manuevers. The day before, this meter read only 4 g's, so I know it wasn't just "stuck". This particular plane has something like 1800 hours on it, I believe. I just thought it might be pertinent to our recent discussion on spar strength. I'd guess that miminum gross weight during these 5 G manuevers was at least 1200 pounds, probably more. I'm not trying to make a point, just adding a data point to our discussion. Yes, I know I really should be working on my plane instead...
