The builder's manual explains in great detail about the actual build process. The KRNet is a great place to share ideas, and get answers from people who have actually built or encountered the same challenges that you are. However, plans are plans, you should always have a good set of scales, circle templates and other additional drafting equipment at the ready whenever you undertake a process like this for any aircraft that you decide to build. You should obtain a decent book on drafting practices also, or be very familiar with reading and more importantly interpreting blueprints. There is a wealth of knowledge laid down in pencil by Ken Rand, IF you know how to read a blueprint and you are familiar with drafting practices. When choosing an aircraft to build, purchase or fly, the process actually starts off by determining what the mission of the aircraft is supposed to be. It does not matter if you are building a jetliner, a fighter, a cargo plane or a general aviation aircraft. First thing is to determine the mission:(Mission Statement) How many passengers and crew, how far, how fast, etc. What type of environment is this aircraft expected to operate in? Who, What , Where & When should be considered as a minimum for your mission statement. What is your budget for the completion of your project. There are many, many things to consider prior to the start of your project, you have a much better chance at completing your project with a satisfactory outcome if you spend some time planning your project first, specificly, preparing a mission statement first. This will help you decide on which aircraft to build, what engine and propeller, instuments radios etc. This will also help you during the build process when determining any modifications. After you have your mission for your aircraft determined, you need to sit down and plan a budget for the completion of your project. If you are married, you should sit down with your spouse and gather your spouse's support for your project. If your spouse (or significant other) does not support your endeavor, then you should reconsider even starting a project of this magnitude. Without your spouse's support you are surely destined to fail with the completion of your project, your marriage or both. The KR offers many advantages to other aircraft in this category: The KR NET ( research and builder's assistance) Premolded parts and prefabricated parts available through Rand Robinson and other sources like Dan Diehl. Fast build time on a proven design. Uses an automotive or Aero engine ( choice of engine & prop) Economical to build Choice of landing gear configuration Ease of modification / update-able Volucer wrote: So why nobody in the net offer better ones? If you guys keep donating who knows....we could start a KR scholarship. If anyone wishes to send their donation, I will hold the money until all is collected and then present it to the EAA and also request this be announced in the Sport Aviation magazine. You may donate two ways: 1) Send it by PayPal to account: flykr2s@wi.rr.com (my e-mail address is the account) 2) Mail the donation to: Mark Jones 615 Wexford Circle Wales, WI 53183 Mark Jones (N886MJ) Wales, WI USA E-mail me at flykr2s@wi.rr.com Visit my KR-2S CorvAIRCRAFT web site at http://mywebpage.netscape.com/n886mj/homepage.html ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Stone" To: Sent: Friday, March 07, 2003 9:03 PM Subject: Re: KR> KR Plaque at EAA > Mark, > If you get a total cost of everything you want to do and publish this > information on the KRNet with a recommendation of how much each active > member needs to come up with, I think you will have better luck with > contributions.
