(No the plans are not scaled at 100%.) You can both widen it (Mine is 3 inches wider) and heighten it (Mine will be 2 inches higher). This means that the plane will be a little bit heavier and the preformed parts that can speed up the construction won't fit. However, the wings can be lengthened/modifies (winglets etc.) and the canopy changed with the same ease of the plans construction. One person built a KR2 up to handle an IO-360 engine with a 26? ft wing spread. Its basic weight was right at the GW for a normal KR2S. Unlike the RV, or any of the kit, series of planes, the KR2 can be anything you wish. I've never heard of a HS failure in the standard KR or any other structural failure for that matter. The 12 inch extention changes things though and they might stand a bit of re-inforcemet. Are you building a 2 or a 2S? If you are building a 2S I'd stick with the dimentions called for in the plans. If you are building a 2 I'd go with the dimention of the 2S and build it to the 2S plans. I'd not go bigger than the 2S plans. Hope that is of some help. Just tell them what you want and they can direct you to it. There is also a $10 fuel presure guage hanging next to it that looks real slick but I can't vouch for it's operation. It is a small ( 1 inch-approx) guage. Thanks to Orma for his post as it was a good reminder to do another fuel flow test now that I've got the pressure regulator installed. I was getting 30 gal per hour flow with my pumps when tested in the past. I seem to recall the Fed's want at least 1.5 times the highest fuel consumption rate so I should look for at least 12 g.p.h. with the 0-200. That's something for you "gravity feed" builders to check and make sure you check it for worst situation, nose high attitude when you will be at a high power setting and max fuel burn. You can just do a 6 min test into a measuring cup and multiply by 10. Make sure you do it also with a small amount of fuel in the tank as in a go-around after a long flight when low on fuel. You gave some very good info. I will file it in my KR file. My windshield will be a flat wrap. My Gull Wing doors will be almost a flat wrap except the bottom of the door will have a very small amount of curve and be slightly longer than the top. Do you think that this will work with a flar wrap? If do need some heat, I might go with a heat gun as Dan Diehl did many years ago, according to an old KRNews letter. I made a special seat of fiberglass sandwich construction and dropped it to within one inch of the bottom of the fuselage. Then I made my own "formers" and raised the cockpit to clear my head. I also widened the cockpit 4" wider than plans. I don't know anything about the Sonerai. I chose the KR2S because of performance and lesser cost. Making all of my parts and making changes in design sure has made my project go on for years longer than I expected. Next year I hope to hit paydirt.
