All four spars are complete. I am including the fiberglass wingtips also as seen in the pics I also have on CD the newsletters since inception. The canopy has the protection spray applied The brake and runner pedals are moveable in all directions due to having several threaded bolt backers installed. It comes with an original interior set containing the two side panels, the carpet, and the seat slings The two wing tanks and the upper center tank are aluminum, sloshed, and senders installed. The upper center has a flop tube for aerobatics my intent was to have the wing tanks feed the center tank constantly. I have the wiring diagram for that to happen. Included also is all the fiberglass, epoxies you will need to finish, a lot of spruce some foam and all the polytone to paint (white). The rear horizontal stabilizer as well at the elevators, is built I don’t have pictures yet its in my garage behind a lot of very heavy boxes. LoL! As you can see you are getting a lot for your money the canopy and rudder/brake setup, and fiberglass cost more! I am desperate for cash! So I will need an answer very soon, My phone number is 616-887-2101 my cell is 616-893-9332 feel free to call with any questions Thanks Dave >From: DPurduski@CaldwellMfgCo.com >Reply-To: KRnet >To: KRnet >Subject: Re: KR> KR2S for sale >Date: Mon, 11 Oct 2004 08:30:51 -0500 > > >I'm interested. I was very concerned about the nut plates on the back of the spar filling with flox and being clogged. So, I remembered someone stating they had put nylon screws in the nutplates to prevent this and theirs easily removed after the flox dried. Well....mine did not come out and now my screw holes are plugged with nylon bolts. Guess I will have to carefully drill them out and tap the nut plates to get the threads clean.........anyone know of a better way to get them out??????????????? Man, it is always something. I gotta get bird in the air before I go crazy. Some times they spin out with the drill bit as the pressure is relived. That sounds like a good idea on the surface but in the end caused me more grief than one or two nuts with epoxy in them would have. Dan, I guess the short answer is personal preference. My "mission statement" for my KR is to build it as stock and light as possible. Besides the engine selection, I am only planning three structural mods: 1) Aerodynamic balances, 2) a recessed speed brake, & 3) conversion to the AS5046 airfoil for the wings. I figure the less mods means the less time building. With that said, the 3 spars for the HS came with the plane cut and ready. My understanding is most of the drag in the stock KR tail comes from the HS angle of incidence rather than the airfoil, so I decided to keep the HS stock and just add the balances. I'm certain others will disagree and that's the beauty of this plane, build it your own way... :-) ps. I'm still looking forward to seeing your KR sometime this Fall! There were a number of the KR crowd there to keep us company (get your planes finished and flying guys!). One interesting experience from Copperstate. A guy chatting with Steve Glover was lamenting having sold his KR project several years ago. He told Steve that he had sold it to some guy in NM named Scott and wondered if he knew the guy. Steve pointed three rows back and told him I was over there with my KR. This was the guy that started the project that I bought 9 years ago and have been flying for the last 7 years. He was like a proud papa seeing his old project there as a real flying machine. It was a very happy reunion. -Jeff -- F Ross wrote: Glad to hear so many KRs are getting to Copperstate. I just finished removing the nylon screws starting with the very smallest bit I had and working my way up to the crimp size. I then used a tap to start the threads till I felt the tap grab the nut plate then I backed off. I then carefully inserted a screw in each nut plate and threaded it in till it started to grab. Everything seems ok now, thank God !!! Learn from others mistakes and save you a lot of grief. I hope someone else will benefit from my mistakes. You can bet I will not try the nylon bolt thing again. Now on to making the counterbalance arm. You should be able to run through a drill a bit smaller than the crimp on the self locking threads in the nut plate. The only thing left should be some nylon residue that you can be rid of by simply running a screw through the nut plate. > > FWIW, when I did mine I waxed up some regular screws and ran them > through the nut plates when I floxed them in place. If you can't get a screw started after drilling the nylon screws, start a tap into the nut plate, but just run it in deep enough that you can back it out and run a regular screw through the threads. > > Good luck. > > -Jeff > > -- "Mark Jones" wrote: > Yesterday, I floxed in place the Aileron mounting spar into the right wing. Funny, I found that Jerry had done the same on these ailerons, when I took them apart. There is a time for building and a time for FLYING and the time for building has expired.
