Pat, I have to agree with Dan Heath on this one. Probably get better canopies, cheaper and quicker, buying them from someone like "Todds" who does it for a living. If, however, you are bent on doing this, or you want to see a good website on making plastic bubbles, go to: http://www.wisil.recumbents.com/wisil/bubbles/hpvbubbles.htm You'll probably have to copy and paste that whole address, as I think it "wrapped" and dis-connected. I think their principle actually "sucks" the canopy into position, rather than "blowing" it, but, whether it "sucks" or "blows", it is a lot of work that may or may not give the results you want... I leave it to you to decide if it "sucks" or "blows"... The parent site for that website is: http://www.wisil.recumbents.com/wisil/whatsup.htm and it has LOTS of great links to sites for people who are building fairings for recumbent racing bicycles. Fun stuff for guys who build their own planes... I do agree, if I need a canopy, it's cheaper to buy. My plane is done, now I'm looking for education, not canopies. Willie's reply about a 'modified' KR-2, I fly a 'modified' tricycle u/c KR-2 in the UK, and the PFA's official designation is Rand KR-2 (Modified) . Also with a VW engine, the 'modified' bit relates to the window in the area of the turtle deck, makes for an improved canopy section in my view, and I believe adds a lot to the appearance of the aircraft. Compare a picture of this ( look in G-Info database on the CAA site for aircraft G-BTGD if your interested ) to a 'normal' style KR-2 and I think you'll agree that the differences appear to be more marked than between a KR-2 and a KR-2S. All depends on what you tell 'em you are changing.... However for those that really want to make everything or have an abnormal requirement (like my 44" width) - have a look at: http://www.kr2-egb.com.ar/ Yes - it's good old Eduardo again. Under the heading "Cabina" he gives a detailed account of how he made the mold and formed his own canopy frame plus windscreen and side panels (for a gull-wing door set-up. Absolutely brilliant. The comment is in Spanish - I used a web translator (http://translation1.paralink.com/ ) to give me an English text - I have made MS Word pages with text and pictures for everything on his site and will be using this as constant reference during my build.
