OH, there is the first benefit, I actually contacted him, and we talked. He even has e-mail and a real web site. Price would be another benefit and you can choose the tint. He will make to to your specs. He is located in FLA, so shipping cost or lack thereof would be another benefit. You can order it by e-mail and pay for it with a credit card. Another benefit. Todd was very helpful and did everything he could to help me solve my problem and in a way, was instrumental in my finally being successful. He shipped me a "back piece" of a bubble to see if I could use it, and all I had to do was pay the shipping cost. How's that for customer service, and I wasn't even a customer. I believe it's about 200 HP at 6000 rpm, maybe it'll do about 110hp at 3000??? Does anybody know of their weight and suitability? Thanks --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. The rand 2S canopy is a lot more streamlined and better looking than their 2 canopy. I understand that they are the same as for a 2 except for the four small aft outboard fittings because the spar is not bent back. I may be wrong on this, but I am pretty sure that is correct. If you do need to change the few different ones Jeanette does have the small WAFs in stock. Price is $375 for the set including shipping in the U.S. I realize that is no great savings, but I have them now. I also have a set of Diehl gear for sale. The set consists of the upper casting, the gear leg, the lower brackets, and the bolt kit. As when you buy the set from Dan, it does not include the axles. The legs are already glassed and hae the straw for the brake line already done. The glass work is very good and will require very little finishing. The set is for a tail dragger, but I think they are the same as for a nose wheel, just mounted on the other side of the spar. Not 100% sure on this, but someone on the list should know. The legs are not drilled yet and the holes to mount the leg to the upper casting are not drilled in the casting yet, so there is no worry that there is any misalignment on this set. Dan sells the set for $525 plus $15 for shipping. I will sell them for $500 with shipping in the U.S. included. The work that is done will save about three hours. I am selling the gear because I have ordered new leg blanks that will not rake as far forward and I am welding up new brackets for more prop clearance. I also have the forward spar to sell. The spar is drilled to match this gear set. I am fairly sure I can get the center section spar off the plane without damage, but I am not sure on this yet. After 7 yrs of work I am less than half finished and I can not see getting it finished in the forseeable future. My disability has progressed to the point that I can not stand without support and I need two hands to hold a twelve pound weight. With luck I can hold on to me pilots licence for another couple of years so I can continue to fly me 150 for now. Many thanks to all those on the KR net. I would never have been able to keep at this project without all the encouragement and advice I have received thru the net and at the fly ins. Doug Rupert purchased my project and I sure hope he gets to finish it. Itt would be a real thrill to see it fly. May drop in from time to time. That is still my goal but I have encountered an unexpected set back. I have boasted that I have had a totally leak free engine for the past 17.8 hours. Well. that changed today at the 18.0 hour mark. I have a major leak developing around my starter mounting plate. Upon close examination, I have determined that the starter has actually bent the 1/4" 6061-T6 angle which the mounting bracket was made from. It is back to the drawing board to make a yet stronger mount for my starter. I guess there is something to be said about test running an engine on the ground before flight. It took eighteen hours for this to develop and I am glad I was not in the air dripping oil and not knowing it. vAIRCRAFT web site at http://mywebpage.netscape.com/n886mj/homepage.html ------------------------------ Message: 11 Date: Sat, 8 May 2004 21:20:13 -0400 From: "Orma" Subject: KR> Engine buildup To: Message-ID: <002101c43563$c976ff70$03e0d445@ROBBINS1> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hello Net I have most of the parts for the engine buildup except for the liftersl, and have been busy cleaning the parts to be reused. Our first big adventure was a 114 sm trip to an airshow. I made my log entry at 6:00AM this morning to make the whole thing legal. I knew I'd crossed the river when the people I met introduced themselfs with names like Dow and Bow! Just kidding Missouri netters. They were all very nice people and the KR got some good reviews. Dow was a 14,000+ hour AgCat cropduster and Bow was an Army paratrooper that brought the flag in to open the airshow. Two fine gentlemen. I met a few gentlemen that I tried to turn on to the net. One was a KR1 builder and the other two were "wana-be partner" builders. We'll see if they show up. There was a bit of wind out today. I was making 130 smph GS going and 175 smph GS on the return. It was 114 miles each way and I recorded 2.3 hours on the meter and that included a fuel stop so three T.O.'s and landings and two climbs to 6500 feet, taxi, warm-up, etc. That was "clock time", not "tach time". My fuel burn was 5.7 gph and I cruise at full throttle with 2500 on the tach. The crosswinds made for a couple of exciting landings but the bird is back in the hangar without any damage from her first big outing. If the weather holds I have something planned for the next 6 weekends. I should have well over 100 hours on it by Gathering time. Keep on building! Once you've tasted the thrill of flight there's no turning back !!!!!!!!! It does come out very easily though when you saw it off with a sawzall and remove the remaining pieces with a wood chisel. Since I am going to build a new wing with the new airfoil I would like to sell my outboard forward spars. The wood work is very good and they are not varnished or drilled for the attach fittings yet. I will sell them for $100 plus shipping. Reply directly to me at brian@engalt.com or call my cell at 904-536-1780.
