I work part time at Sears in the electronics dept. and usually there are few shoppers in the store from about 8 PM until closing. I put the DVD in and watched KR's and the KR gang on a 50" plasma TV. There is just something special about watching KRs doing high speed passes and hearing those pistons and props all set to music. Thanks Bob for a great video. A single operator controlled both air vehicles through a series of maneuvers, including 90 degree turns and turnarounds, at speeds up to 20 knots. The two air vehicles autonomously maintained their positions relative to each other through the Inter-vehicle communication link between the two air vehicles. Initially AV2 followed 1000' behind AV1, then was slowly brought up to taxi 500 feet behind. Several failure modes were introduced by the operator and the air vehicles responded autonomously as designed to ensure the proper separation was maintained. This was the first time, two unmanned air vehicles have moved under their own power in a coordinated formation. Congratulations to the entire X-45 J-UCAS team! This is a critical step along the path towards multi-vehicle flight. ===== Scott Cable KR-2S # 735 Wright City, MO s2cable1@yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun. Dennis Dyer Pine, CO --- "JIM VANCE" wrote: A groundplane should have a radius at least 5% longer than the driven antenna. That means that a true groundplane for 121.5 megahertz would need to be about 52 inches in diameter. For our small KR's, the best alternative is to use a counterpoise made up of the braid of the coaxial cable that is about 5% longer than the driven element. I put my antenna about two feet behind the seat on the sidewall with the feedpoint about midway up the sidewall. The driven element was floxed into place vertically, with the top curving toward the center of the turtledeck. The braid counterpoise was floxed down the sidewall, then across the floor of the fuselage. I have used this type of antenna in my Renegade with excellent results. Video Bob's email address, prices, and mailing address are on www.krnet.org , at the very bottom of the "KR Suppliers" list, just above the photo of Jim Hill's plane. He probably has some stuff that's newer than what's mentioned by now though. They are downright excellent videos, with much higher quality than one would expect. He's truly a professional, and we're lucky to have him show up and video these things for us... I have actually accomplished something and hope to complete the painting of the top of the fuselage before I have to go back to work on Tuesday. It has been so hot that I have had to do my painting early in the morning, so hope to paint again on Saturday, if I can get it all taped back up and cleaned up, by then. Without passing GO, http://kr-builder.org/Painting/index.html Or it is available under Painting on the menu on the home page.
