Assuming you mean the interlocking nylon block connectors (Molex plugs) the Radio Shack P/N for the pin crimp tool is 64-2983. It should be available in most stores at $7.99. To do a real good job I also add a LITTLE solder to each connection "to make assurance doubly sure". Allen G. Bill has made some awesome progress. I drove out to his house last October and he was in the advanced boat stage (controls, gear, tail feathers done, etc) and starting to fit his canopy, but had yet to do his turtle deck, stub wings, etc. That's great news on his first flight and I look forward to seeing it in the air! ps. It's good to hear from you Art. Brian mentioned that you moved out to West GA, hope to see you at the gathering. Seems he's been > very busy. He got his project signed off yesterday and today his baby took flight. This is the second KR he has built. He has a KR2-S tail dragger, Corvair engine, speed brake and the new airfoil. After a short hop in ground effect he lifted off and went around the pattern once before a smooth landing. He reports it flew very steadily with few control inputs needed (almost hands off)his term!!! He hopes to fly his required hours off and bring her to the Gathering, if possible. He was going to leave her with just primer, but instead, painted her and took care of the interior while waiting on the inspector. He's not on the net, but if you wish to call him with questions or atta boy's, you can reach him at 229.242.2978. Photos may follow if he can get them to me. Get it built-then go fly the thing! > Art Bruce > > > _______________________________________ > to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to KRnet-leave@mylist.net > please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html > ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Sat, 28 Aug 2004 18:57:18 -0700 From: "Charles Buddy & Cheryl Midkiff" Subject: Re: KR> cowling To: "KRnet" Message-ID: <016501c48d6b$841bfba0$6401a8c0@charlesmidkiff> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Don, I haven't seen anyone answer this one yet, so I'll tell you what I saved from a previous inquiry on this same subject. The revmaster cowl was 29 1/2" from firewall to prop hub compared to 26" for the Hapi VW cowl. Orma, Been giving a little thought to your turbo installation. Seems to me you should be getting more boost. Is the wastegate manual or automatically controlled? I think using throttle position to control MP and the wastegate only as a safety to prevent overboost might be the answer. If achieving the right amount of boost is a problem, I would look into a rich mixture problem (lower exhaust temp causes less expansion of the exhaust gases therfore lower rpms of the turbine buckets). The turbo could be sized for a car application, and boost may not come in until 4500 rpm or so. you could be experiencing compressor blade stall (surge) but would probably see an eratic manifold pressure. Hope you get the bugs worked out!!
