I was cleaning/rebuilding a set of Cleveland wheels and brakes and discovered a problem of one puck frozen in place. No amount of soaking in several solutions and applying 100 pounds of air pressure would remove it. I feared the worst as a new body goes for $250+ and the puck is another $25. I called an A&P friend and he suggested that with the proper fittings I could attach a grease gun and pump it out. YEEEEE HAAAAAA ! It worked. I'll probably end up replacing one bearing and race, O rings and hardware but other than that I'm off to the races. :-) Hauling skydivers tomorrow and flying the KR on Sunday! I hope nobody pinchs me !!!!!! That's a pretty good tip! I wouldn't have thought of it until you mentioned it, but all that air pressure represents a lot of potential energy stored up. When that thing came out of there it would have some serious energy traveling with it! The grease gun method means it would just fall out on the floor. Excellent idea. The tricks these folks know that we'd never dream up is the reason this forum is such a great place to exchange information. This is going to be the replacement to 100LL when they start to phase it out. I'd like to know what the availabilty is around the country as well. It also depends a lot on the plane and the engine. Build a 2S with the new airfoil and you will have a much different animal than a 2 with the old airfoil. There is no reason you can not build a light 2S and easily carry two reasonable size people. It seems I read somewhere that the KR aircraft behave a little funny with 2 people flying, like the aircraft is really only good as one seater. I think if the builder makes it too heavy or has loaded the airplane with extra equipment that 2 occupants tend to overload the thing. If anyone can clarify this, please do, as I need a reliable two seater aircraft. Biggest drawback is lack of easy mixture control. It has two independent barrels, one for each cylinder head. Each barrel is 40 mm dia with a 32 mm venturi. Main jets are 140 (1.4mm dia). Temporarily borrow (?) a MP gauge from your work and see if you have an intake restriction or something. If the EFS-2 allows 28" or so then your problem may lie elsewhere. I'm thinking of installing one to monitor mixtures but the wide band ones seem costly and I wonder whether they'd last on Avgas even 100LL because of the lead. Is there one around that doesn't get poisoned. Also does anyone know of a 2 1/4 dial or similiar to suit.
