You will find all resources you will need to decide if you wish to take on such a project. -Jeff > >On Sun, 19 Jun 2005 16:23:32 -0700 "joseph" >writes: > > Thanks for all of the information I received on starting my project. > > After doing some research and reading all of the threads I could, I > > have decided that I will start building my project just as soon as I > > can. The motor cycle type alternator is mounted on the Hapi case and the flywheel. I am not sure what the ign coils are..The wires coming from the case do not have the regulator. If you need a prop for the Revmaster hub, you might call Charlie Reeves in Tucson as he has a couple of Sterba props that he isn't using on his KR anymore. He might be willing to part with one of them. That's close enough you could pick it up. You can also have your prop repitched relatively inexpensively. Taking pitch out of a prop is pretty simple. Usually costs around $100. Jeff Scott -- "Lee Van Dyke" wrote: Netters, Me again, I have decided to get a new prop I currently have a 52/48, and am going to change to a 52/45. Does anybody have a weight for the KR2s? I am nearing completion, and would also like to know what the weights were ( for this stage of your project if you can remember) for anybody who has completed the boat stage of a KR2S. I will be near 80 lbs, although I have also raised the fuselage height 2", and widened the fuse by 6", and increased the fuse to 14'. I also have skinned the fuselage with carbon 282. I did some testing and found that two 5.7 oz layers of 282 carbon sandwiching a 5/8 section of foam, is almost exactly the same weight for the same size. In the end I don't think I will have any significant weight savings. It was more difficult to build the plane this way, and I don't recommend it. The three things I did get out out this construction are, 1. I'm sure it will be quieter inside than most Krs. 2. I don't have to wonder what I will seal the plywood with. 3. I will be much better at layups when I begin to make the flight surfaces for the wings and tail sections Ron Smith, Cypress Ca. near Disneyland if you were wondering, KR2ssxl, boat stage ------------------------------ Message: 7 Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2005 00:30:08 +0100 From: "phil brookman" Subject: Re: KR> I need a prop...... The thing that kept it going was the wind blowing through the prop plus lowering the nose to keep the airspeed up. My compression ratio is about 6.6 to 1. That helps a lot. -Joe >Is it possible to restart a VW engine by diving (I mean, make a steep >dive in order to increase airflow and possibly force the prop to >windmill), or is it a lost case? ------------------------------ Message: 9 Date: Mon, 20 Jun 2005 20:58:41 -0400 From: "Doug Rupert" Subject: RE: KR> VW engine for sale To: "'KRnet'" Message-ID: <001b01c575fc$61882d50$bcf5e2d1@office> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="windows-1250" That boy never ceases to amaze me. He hair-balled up a fully complete (less covering) Super Skybolt for $3500 two weeks after I bought the KR. Doug Rupert Darryl Gilbert from Gilbert Custom Aircraft has a 1915 cc VW engine for sale for $2500. He also has other engines from A 75 to 0 200 Continentals 0 235 to 0 360 Lycomings. his engines are first class and reasonable. It works with old, tired Lycomings and Continentals. With a tight engine, probably never. However, a touch of the starter ( if you have one) will bring it to high rpms quickly in a well established dive.
