I also have a overhead view of where it all took place and where I was. I found out 3 days later when I went back, that if I was not running short on time, I would have been in front of the house where the plane crashed in the back yard. The plane crashed inbetween 4 houses and only some damage to the houses. http://vandyke5.com/Yuma.htm Lee Van Dyke Mesa AZ Lee@vandyke5.com ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Mon, 27 Jun 2005 09:24:22 -0400 From: paulwasp@webtv.net Subject: KR> Re: 2" Aluminum extension To: krnet@mylist.net (KRnet) Message-ID: <25239-42BFFE06-1283@storefull-3237.bay.webtv.net> Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Hi, al; Does anyone have one....what are you asking for it? I used spraylat about 6-7 years ago and it was easy to use. As I remember, I diluted it ~15% with water to a sprayable consistency and shot it with a cheap gun. Air pressure was about 25-30psi( I think) Play with the pressure to get what ever will get the stuff out of the can. The worst problem was spraying, at the edges, too thin a coat. When time came to remove the spraylat, the thin areas were really tough but yielded to mineral spirits. I did put a few scratches on the plexiglas before I learned how to get it all off. How thick? About .050" or even more will be good. You can shoot in layers okay if the previous layer is not cured out. Spray it on and let it cure for a couple of days before covering with paper or cardboard if needed for further protection. Regards, Tommy James Ps. Mine came in a 1 gl. plastic jug from aircraft spruce. -----Original Message----- From: krnet-bounces@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-bounces@mylist.net] On Behalf Of Jack Cooper Sent: Saturday, June 25, 2005 12:03 PM To: KR builders and pilots Subject: KR> Canopy - spray-lat I have just put up a new page about how to and not to install a canopy. I'm having a problem with some of the pictures and navigation bars but you will get the picture. http://jackandsandycooper.com/canopy.html I have ordered and received a can of spray-lat ( at least I hope that is what is in the can) from wicks but the can arrived with no markings and no instructions. I would assume it is sprayed on at full strength but do I use high pressure or HVLP. I do have plenty Plexiglass to practice on. You will never regret it. I have missed only one Gathering since 1998 and that was only because of a new born baby girl. That was a good excuse for not being there. Please do not make any excuses for not coming. Help us make this Gathering even better than last years Gathering. Last year broke all Gathering records (I think) for both planes and people in attendance. Let's do it again this year. Amazing how a plane can touch you. I just got this email yesterday from the daughter of the man I bought the Stang from and it nearly brought a tear to my eyes. I knew when I bought the plane that he just wanted to see it finished and in the air. Inspiring people to finish and fly their planes before they just give up or loose their medical is a noble cause and you are certainly doing your part. There is nothing more satisfying than flying something that you created. Dear Brian, I am Fred Gale's daughter...the one who helped my Dad do the riveting on the plane. I wanted to thank you for being so kind as to let my Dad know that you had flown the plane so that he could have the satisfaction of knowing he had accomplished his dream...at least a large part of it. You have given him a gift greater than you will ever know. I hope to see it fly one day with my Dad. Puffy clouds at 5000 made for a smooth, cool ride down at 6500. Still inspired by the flight on Monday morning I sat down and wrote the following poem. I thought of saving it for the awards banquet at the Gathering but realized that many of you won't be there and you too may find it motivating and inspire you to get back out to the workshop and make more sanding dust. And for those already flying, I'd hope you take a fresh look at all the sights you get to see on your next flight. Enjoy...........
