They have recently tightened the regulations so much that modifications should only be undertaken if you have a lot of patience and time. I spent an hour and 10 min. doing taxi runs. The confidence is building and on the last 2 runs I lifted off for short distance and settled back down. I found that it was easier to control and also to stop from the flying attitude. The down side is that a small oil leak developed in the front main seal. So the next step will be to make repairs that are needed and then continue on. Unfortunately for the plane we are leaving for vacation for 3 weeks this Friday. So the fate is sealed that my plane will not make Mt Vernon this year. Best of luck to those that are still trying to make it with their new creations. At least now I am sure that the plane will fly OK and testing and flying will progress quickly when the engine squawks are resolved.
