If you would like me to send them to you, please let me know. There are 10 in total, complete with material spec and dimensions. We did not make the trip to Hartford and on to Oshkosh. In place of making the trip I have been working on the Cleveland wheel swap. I need to see a picture of the grove gear with Cleveland's installed. I want to know at what position the brake caliper is mounted. On my Rand Gear, I have decided to mount the caliper to the rear, at about the 3 or 9 O clock position(depending on which way you view it from.). My Rand gear is wider at the bottom then the Cleveland axle. It required me to trim the gear leg in order for the brake caliper to fit. I'm interested in how anyone with the Grove gear and Cleveland wheels and brakes worked this area. It was a great time. There were three KR's there...Joe Weber, Bill Clapp and mine. If I counted correctly, there were a total of 13 people there. Bill Clapp entertained us with two fly bys down hanger alley. He literally flew down the taxi way between a row of hangers. If he had drifted ten feet in either direction, he would have clipped the hangers. I actually squatted down to make sure he did not give me a haircut. he must have took lessons from the master himself...Marty Roberts. Truly a lot of fun. It was great seeing all of you guys and I hope we can make this an annual event as an opening to Oshkosh. The one thing I did not expect when I asked Mark Langford and Bob Glidden to join the fun, was for them to rip my engine apart. They literally disassembled my engine in about 30 minutes. The reason they did this is that Mark L and I did a compression test on my engine and discovered that I have been flying on about 3 1/2 cylinders. The two front cylinders had overheated, due to bad air inlet baffling, back when I was flying the EFS-2 carb and I did not know it happened. After installing the new EFS-3 carb and not getting any better performance was the first clue something was going on in there. The second clue was oil blow by which was on my stub wings after every flight. The compression test revealed the truth....15/80 on #5....12/80 on #6.....41/80 on #3. I think this is a real testament on the Corvair as with this sick engine I still obtained 135 mph cruise and 1100 fpm climb. I can not wait to fly this plane with a healthy engine. Right now, my heads, piston and rod assemblies and cylinders are on my work table. I am still committed to fly my plane to the gathering. Mine fuselage is 14" longer than the original KR2 but shorter than the KR2S. Is it worth the effort to adapt it? My KR is a 24" stretch over the standard KR2. I raised it at the forward end a bit, glassed it in place, split it down the middle, spread it out and reshaped it over a form, then lengthened it to join the turtledeck bow already installed. Was it worth it? You be the judge. I think it was easier than starting from scratch with all the foam and sanding, sanding, sanding, sanding, sanding, ........................... I could give more details if needed and maybe some pictures or perhaps a phone call. Contact me privately at and I'll look for some pic's or give you my phone number. I'll be there, in my plane, but it will have the same rough appearance that it's had for months now. It'll be all I can do to get the engine back together (which I should start re-assembling this weekend) and get it flying again, so it'll still be extremely rough, but it'll be there. Probably the biggest job will do make another cowling (because of the shorter prop hub length, and because the flailing prop ruined the area around the spinner) and plenums for the cylinder tops that will mate to it. Carbon fiber is on order. I'll work on all the comforts of home over the winter, but right now I'm just trying to get an engine back in it...
