He is one of the only ones I know of that is building a KR-1 right now and he is tall enough that they make him wear a flashing red light on his hat when he is at an airport. His will have a Corvair and from what I have heard about it will be a screamer. If you really want a VW you should go with something much bigger than the 1600 unless you live in a very flat area with no trees and verrrry long runways. Having a pro experienced in the art and willing to wade through the data to identify refinements, plus someone willing to implement them sounds promising. I've got to admit - I'm all in favor of it just because there will be more data for me to digest when I get around to building and flying. (Yes, I'm new...just joined KRnet to listen to KR builders' experiences/ideas/opinions.) I've been looking at different homebuilt plans and the KR2S is very close to the top of the list. So far, the discussion topics have been enlightening. I will be glad to share this file with anyone who wants it when it is finished. I need information like this: climb rates climb speed cruise speeds cruise power settings roll rates in degrees per second the percentage of aft stick you need to stall the plane The more info that I can give him, the better he can tune the plane. This is a ONE TIME shot, so send me your stuff and I will average them out, taking out those that may be way out. See N64KR at http://KRBuilder.org - Then click on the pics See you in Mt. I finally updated a few things on my website. Here is the link to the 2005 KR Gathering photos I took. Here is the link http://web.qx.net/jeffyork40/KRGathering2005/ Obviously you can tell I was very interested in engine baffling. As I am re doing mine. I also have several good pictures of Steve Jones KR as well may be yours in there too. I have updated pictures of my KR as well as the baffle work I am doing. I had to much air getting by my old baffling and hope to lower my oil temps a bit. If nothing else I will feel I have done all I can to improve oil temps. I had hoped to get a KR ride at the gathering as I could use the duel time and the chance to compare notes and observe someone else's temps and gauges. I keep changing things on my Kr to improve something or another and never build up any long consistent flight time between minor mods. Then the minor mods end up taking way to much time. You know the story, job, wife kids. Extra time is very difficult to come by but then again, we make our priorities. Well, now I have a Cherokee as well, so maybe I will spend more time flying. Strutt I fly a KR-2 on a 1641cc type one VW with a force one type hub that I made. That's the first over sized slip in, no machine work required on the case and heads. The performance is about like a Cessna 150. If I were building a KR-1, I would use the KR-2 plans and not make the fuselage as wide as shown in those plans. A 1600cc engine would work out well for the KR-1. -Joe ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ See KRnet list details at http://www.krnet.org/instructions.html End of KRnet Digest, Vol 347, Issue 496 *************************************** ================================== ABC Amber Outlook Converter v4.20 Trial version ==================================
