I was a personal friend of the late Ken Rand and he was one of the best men I have ever known. Since all of you out there are interested in his design I want to tell you, all of you that I wish you could have met and got to know him because he was a person you would never forget. His lose was a real blow to the experimental aviation community and all who knew him experienced a real lose including me. I know the hardest time for his wife and daughters is this time of year when they remember the Christmas seasons they enjoyed together. He produced a great design that will be around for many years to come and hopefully he will go down in history as one of the great contributors to aviation. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU WORLD WIDE WHO ARE KEEPING HIS MEMORY ALIVE BY BUILDING ONE OF HIS MAGNIFICENT DESIGNS. I have been on this thing since 1994. I hope my giid health keeps up for several more years so I can do some flying for a change. I wish I could share some of our good weather with you. We do have cold spells but then it moderates. I hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. My phone has not even rang here at work. Might just have to shut er down early today. Anyway, my plane is in my garage being torn down. I have removed the wings, the rudder, the cowling, the forward deck, the seats and have the engine completely disconnected and ready for removal from the mount. I am doing this so that I can do the final body work on the KR and get her painted. There are some minor repairs that are needed and a few modifications I am going to do. I also have to make a new alternator mount and work on my carb heat and cabin heat. This gives me something to tinker with over the winter here in Wisconsin, however, we are having a heat wave right now. It is actually 37°F as I am typing this. This is the first time we have been above freezing in three weeks. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas. What'd you do different from > Troy? I think the biggest difference is that my vertical stab is taller and wider by a few inches (per the plans) and then I added another 2" because I have so much more torque than the VW I thought I'd need it. I may cut that part off though (it was meant to be a balance, but it's too thin to put any lead in worth having any effect), because I really haven't needed it yet, although I haven't flown out west yet during the summertime either...
