This airplane is sold as a project, almost ready to be signed off. It has already been taxied, but requires minor work for completion.
Finish the tailwheel retract door mechanism, paint with your color choice and capitalize upon years of work completed by a doctor on his fantasy airplane.

Constructed from a Fighter Escort Wings (FEW) kit, the 3/4 size composite replica faithfully represents the single seat North American P51D Mustang fighter of WW II. Further, the cockpit has been constructed to closely resemble that of the original P51.

The composite components were professionally molded, cured and treated in carefully controlled ovens to the highest commercial standards. Noted aerodynamicist, John Roncz, designed the airfoil and consulted in the wing design. The result is a fast but docile wing, with performance similar to that of the RV series. Overall result is a very manageable aircraft with comfortable low speed behavior. The resulting airframe is fully aerobatic, stressed to +/- 6g. Stalling speed under 60 MPH Vso, and maximum airspeed limited to 340MPH Vne.

* Power is from a professionally hand built, blue printed and dyno-tested small block Chevrolet 383 cubic inch V8 with aluminum heads and Crower piston rods. The crankshaft and connecting rods are forged. Exhaust manifolds were specially designed and constructed so as to place the exhaust stubs in scale position on the cowling.
* The constant speed, four bladed propeller, is specifically constructed by Whirlwind for the FEW Mustang and is driven by a pressure lubricated gearbox.
* The hydraulic system is contained completely within the wing, and controls the fully retractable landing gear. The coolant radiator installed behind the wing.

The builder, now in his nineties, flew P51's in squadron service many years ago in the Royal New Zealand Airforce. He has lost his Medical, and is no longer flying.
The project is just short of being called an airplane as the airworthiness certificate is not yet issued. Very minor amounts of work remain to be completed by the purchaser.
Currently located in a hangar on the Hillsboro, Oregon airport (KHIO), the seller will assist in providing access for your inspection.
